Flatscreen schmatscreen

We spent last weekend in New York City. We stayed at the Excelsior Hotel, which is a nice hotel in a great location -- but we had this lovely item for our viewing pleasure. If only I brought my VHS tapes!

Bye bye bees

When Anna was a baby, my mother decorated the nursery walls with this bumblebee stamp. Now, Anna has moved upstairs to a room with bunk beds, her baby room is becoming my office, and we're painting over the bees. We left one in a secret spot so I can look at it forlornly and remember my big girl's baby days. Sniff!

Hoppy Easter

A sunny but chilly Easter day. The bunny left some treats at our house, then we joined our neighbors for brunch and an egg hunt.

Lion vs. lamb

It is March, and winter is battling spring. Spring pushed the crocuses up last week, then winter buried them under snow. On Sunday, spring brought the temperature to 60 degrees -- on Monday, winter fought back with another storm. But today is looking good. My money is on spring.

Ski bunnies

We took the girls skiiing this weekend. Anna learned last year and took off right away. This year, we couldn't even get Faye into the boots -- until yesterday. It was a beautiful sunny day and the snow was like mashed potatoes. Faye suited up, took a few runs down the bunny slope, and then said, "I want to go on the big one." I couldn't manage to ski with Faye and take pictures, but I think this vintage ski poster captures the day perfectly!

Friday fun

I downloaded an application that lets you turn your digital camera photos into simulated Polaroids. You drag your photo to a Polaroid camera icon, it makes the noise like when a real Polaroid spits out the picture, and then you watch while it exposes! No opportunity to shake and blow on the photo to hasten exposure but fun for a Friday, none the less.
